Call for Poster Summaries

The 2020 Water New Zealand Conference & Expo will be held at Claudelands Event Centre in Hamilton from 16-18 September 2020.

After a successful call for technical paper abstracts, we are now looking for a call for poster summaries to populate the poster programme

New for 2020:

Posters will be printed by the organisers and prominently displayed at the conference. Poster presenters will also have the opportunity to address delegates for five minutes at the beginning of technical paper session streams.

Poster Guidelines and Instructions

Poster summaries submitted must be a maximum of 200 words, excluding title and authors and must include:

  • Title (no longer than 10 words)
  • Author(s)
  • Keywords (up to 8)
  • References

All poster presenters agree to the following:

  • Design an A0-sized poster and submit by the deadline for printing
  • Create a PowerPoint to be presented during the conference programme
  • The length of the PowerPoint must be no more than one minute per slide or a maximum of 2.5 minutes for the whole ‘presentation’.
  • No more than 2 ‘slides’ in PowerPoint.

Authors of a poster must be in attendance at a designated time during the conference 16-18 September 2020 in order to explain their poster to the Technical Committee.

All poster summaries are subject to approval by Water New Zealand’s Technical Committee.

Entry Criteria

Entries are welcome on any topic of relevance to the water industry, with entries from students particularly encouraged.

The deadline for poster summaries for the 2020 award is Friday 14 August and entries must be submitted through the portal

Judges and Judging Criteria

Posters are assessed by the technical committee on the following criteria;

  • Technical content
  • Practical content
  • Future use
  • Clarity and logic
  • Standard of the verbal presentation

Best Poster Award

The award for best poster will be presented at The Downer Gala Dinner and Awards on Thursday 17 September 2020.


  • Call for poster summaries opens Wednesday 12 February
  • Call for poster summaries close Friday 31 July
  • Final poster due 5pm Friday 28 August
  • Poster presentation 16 – 18 September
